The American Theatre Wing celebrated the recipients of the 2023 Jonathan Larson Grant, the esteemed annual prize awarded to exceptional emerging musical theatre composers, lyricists, and librettists, or writing teams. Out of the Box Theatrics releases behind-the-scenes rehearsal photos from the Off-Broadway developmental production of Millennials Are Killing Musicals, written by Drama League songwriting contest and NAMT Challenge winner Nico Juber.

Hosted in partnership with The 24 Hour Plays and The Dramatists Guild of America, the evening features brand-new monologues written, rehearsed and recorded in 24 hours by NQT’s New Visions Fellows, a fellowship supporting the work of Black Trans and gender non-conforming artists.

 National Queer Theater has announced a special edition round of The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues, which they will host in partnership with The 24 Hour Plays and The Dramatists Guild of America to featuring brand-new monologues written, rehearsed and recorded in 24 hours.

Recipients of the New Vision Fellowship have been announced. The 2021 New Vision Fellowship playwrights will each be awarded $5,000, fully funded by National Queer Theater, to develop a play, musical, or performance experience of their design and choosing.

Mommy Milk Cafe is a new hilarious short play written by Asian American writer and actress Sara States. It will be premiered online with Be Bold Productions as part of The Players Theatre Short Play Festival.
