 To inaugurate San Francisco Opera’s second century, the Company and San Francisco Opera Guild jointly present Opera Ball on Friday, September 8, 2023. This festive evening, titled The Elixir of Opera, includes a reception, dinner and after-party in San Francisco’s City Hall along with a celebratory Opening Night Concert in the War Memorial Opera House.

Matthew Shilvock, Tad and Dianne Taube General Director of San Francisco Opera, have announced the appointment of Georgi Kelly as Chief Philanthropy Officer.

San Francisco Opera announced a cast change for Giuseppe Verdi’s Il Trovatore, which opens Tuesday, September 12 and is the first opera of the Company’s 101st season. ​​​​​​​New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) hosts its annual spring gala, Feelin' Groovy: Songs from the 60s, on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at the Racquet & Tennis Club on Park Avenue. In support of NYFOS's 35th season, the gala features a performance of songs by Laura Nyro, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell and the Beatles, along with some Motown hits.

The 39th season of the Schwabacher Recital Series, presented by San Francisco Opera Center and the Merola Opera Program, opens on March 1 with soprano Meigui Zhang and pianist John Churchwell and continues on March 22 with a program curated by Nicholas Phan featuring five San Francisco Opera Adler Fellows and Merola alumni.

Reading like a short story from visionary science fiction author Philip K. Dick (“A Scanner Darkly,” “Electric Dreams”), the release of “No Other You” continues the album’s retro-futuristic, dystopian narrative that revolves around a fictional machine (the 'Hypnogogue') that extracts music directly from subconscious dreams.  

Now in its 39th year, the Schwabacher Recital Series, presented by San Francisco Opera Center and the Merola Opera Program, returns this spring with a series of four recitals (March 1, March 22, April 12 and May 18) at San Francisco's Dianne and Tad Taube Atrium Theater and San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Barbro Osher Recital Hall.

San Francisco Opera’s Centennial Season culminates June 16, 2023, in a special concert and dinner honoring the Company’s illustrious 100-year history.
