New Yiddish Rep recreates the bawdy, boisterous and often backbiting atmosphere of a Yiddish music hall on the Lower East Side a century ago with the first of several planned 'Seltzer Nights' beginning Saturday March 21 at 7pm. The launch of the 'Seltzer Nights' project, which incubates at the Castillo Theatre, 543 West 42nd Street, for four Saturdays through the spring, culminates in a daring new original American musical in English and Yiddish (the premiere of which will be announced at a later date).

Michael Winograd's acclaimed Yiddish Art Trio, known around the world for its stunning reinterpretions of klezmer music will perform for the first time in eastern Connecticut at the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry tonight, December 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold on the night of the performance at the door for $10 ($8 for students), payable by cash or check.

The Shalom Foundation and New York's National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene, currently in its historic 100th season, will present The Ester Rachel and Ida Kaminska State Jewish Theater from Warsaw, Poland to New York audiences. This is the first time the Polish Yiddish Theater company, also known as The State Jewish Theater, has toured in North America since the 1980's.

The Washington DC Jewish Community Center (DCJCC) is once again bringing an eclectic blend of acclaimed musical styles to venues across the metro area. From June 1 - June 14, Jewish-inspired music from around the globe will come alive in the nation's capital through a series of cross-cultural musical performances during the Washington Jewish Music Festival (WJMF). American reggae and alternative rock superstar Matisyahu will kick off the Festival on Sunday, June 1 with an intimate acoustic concert blending Jewish themes with reggae, rock and hip-hop beatboxing sounds. Boasting arguably its most diverse line-up of talent yet, the 2014 WJMF will be a truly special celebration of music for the entire Washington area community.

Reissa, one of the world's most important interpreters of Yiddish song, will perform in her only New York City appearance this year at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. Her band of musical luminaries is led by Frank London of the Klezmatics and features Marty Confurius on the upright bass; Rex Benincasa on percussion and drums; slide trombone player Brian Drye; and pianist and accordion player Patrick Farrell.
