4. Visual: Indianapolis Art Center Seeks Day of the Dead Artists

Entry Deadline: Send in full proposals by March 31, 2010

Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition that demonstrates a strong sense of love and respect for one's deceased ancestors through the creation of altars. Equivalent to Memorial Day in many respects, Day of the Dead focuses on celebrating the continuance of life, family relationships and community solidarity. The Indianapolis Art Center hosts a large scale Day of the Dead Altar Exhibition each year that includes 15-20 altars created by artists, schools, community groups and individuals. The Art Center is looking to incorporate shows in other galleries of the building during this time (October 8th - November 28, 2010) that share a common thread or connection to this Day of the Dead show. We are looking for artist's whose work may touch on the following themes: family or ancestry, storytelling, memorials, community or tradition.

Who should propose a body of work?: Any artist who has a collection of work that is connected to one of the themes above. 2D or 3D work is welcome. A group show incorporating multiple artists who focus on one of the themes above is also welcome. Applicants will be considered for either a solo show or a group show depending on the submissions received. Artists interested in having a solo show would need between 20-35 works.

What your proposal needs to include:
* An artist statement with a half page written explanation of what you are proposing
* 12-15 digital images on a CD of the work you are proposing, also include with these images an image description sheet with prices of each piece of work
* A resume

5. Employment: The Children's Museum of Indianapolis Seeks Gallery Facilitator

6. Visual: Indianapolis Zoo Seeks Artists for Art in the Garden

The Indianapolis Zoo, a not-for-profit organization, is seeking individuals to provide artwork for the Art in the Garden fall show in the White River Gardens' Hilbert Conservatory. Up to 20 pieces will be selected for the show. Artwork will be displayed among the Conservatory plants and flowers. (Please see details of environment under "Requirements".)

For consideration in the Art in the Garden show, please submit the following:
The enclosed Art in the Garden Entry Form. Three (3) examples of recent work (slides, photos, color reproductions, or digital images), which are independent of the entered piece. Each image must contain the artist's name, title, medium, size and date. Please indicate image orientation with a red dot in the lower left-hand corner. A description and visual of the final art piece to be submitted.

Entry applications due by 5pm on Monday, May 3, 2010. Indianapolis Zoo

If selected, each artist will receive the following:
Four (4) tickets to the Indianapolis Zoo. A gallery card displayed with the artwork. Exposure to Zoo guests during the fall show. A hyperlink from the Indianapolis Zoo's website to the artist's website. Display of provided artist contact information and literature at the White River Gardens' Ticket Booth (must be approved by the Zoo in advance).

Artwork selections will be made by committee based on creativity, integrity of work, and sensitivity to and understanding of the subject. Selected artists will be notified via phone by June 1, 2010. To ensure that materials are returned, please include a self- addressed, stamped envelope.

Art in the Garden takes place from September 25 - November 14 in the White River Gardens' Hilbert Conservatory.

Before the show, artwork will need to be delivered to the Zoo September 9-13. At the end of the show, artwork must be picked up on November 15, unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

7. Visual: Zionsville Arts Initiative Seeks Artists for Gallery Walk

The Zionsville Arts Initiative will sponsor its annual Brick Street Gallery Walk on Friday evening, June 25, 2010, 6-10 pm along Main Street in Zionsville, Indiana. Welcoming over 3,000 people per year, this annual event pairs artists with local merchants along its beautiful brick Main Street. A Sculpture Garden is also located in the lovely Lincoln Park. There is no cost to participate. Two- and three-dimensional artists interested in participating should email Becky Hill at bh8811@gmail.com and submit three images of original work for review. Artists must be able to provide own display equipment. The event is featured rain or shine. The deadline for submission is May 1st.

8. Visual: Indianapolis Marriott Hotel Seeks Artists for Conference

The Indianapolis Downtown Marriott is hosting a Conference Direct Reception on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 6:00pm and is interesting in having art on display for guests. This is a push towards landing some large conferences in Indianapolis and showcasing that Indianapolis is a city without cultural limitation. Artwork should be contemporary and/or abstract art and would be able to hang with wire from the ceiling for visual appeal. Artists are welcome to bring business cards for display. REGIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

9. Visual: Call for Miniature Fine Art, Brownsburg, Indiana

Artistic Designs Gallery's 4th Annual Miniature Fine Art Show will take place from May 3-29, 2010. This will be a juried exhibition for miniature fine art held at Artistic Designs Gallery in Brownsburg, Indiana. The entry fee is $30 and up to four works of art may be submitted. Monetary awards will be given for best of show and best of category. Awards will be determined by the number of entries received. All work must be for sale. Deadline for entries is April 15, 2010.

10. Performing: Survival Films Currently Casting for Motion Picture

Survival Films is currently casting for its feature length motion picture SURVIVAL. This film is a UK/USA co-production. The film will be shot in Southern Indiana during the first weeks of April. This is a non-union shoot, all roles are compensated.

Survival films is looking for children between the ages of 8-12 and adults over 30.

11. Visual: Friendship Church seeks Artists for "Friendship for the Arts"

Friendship Church is looking for artists based in Johnson County to showcase their work at "Friendship for the Arts" from 6-9 PM on Saturday October 2nd. This will be a ticketed open-house style event. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit a local public school's art program.

We are looking specifically for musicians, painters, graphic designers, photographers, and sculptors. There is neither cost nor payment for this event. It is simply a showcase of local artistic expression. Artists will be given about an 8ft. sq. space to display work. Limited electricity can be provided if necessary.

Artists who are interested, please send a portfolio link to dustin@experiencefriendship.com by April 15th.

Friendship Church reserves the right to approve or disapprove any artistic expression based on our statement of faith. All works must be approved 1 month prior to the event by the Creative Arts Pastor of Friendship Church (Dustin Pead). Friendship is located at 963 E Worthsville Rd in Greenwood, Indiana.
