The Arts Council of Indianapolis, in partnership with IndyFringe, has announced opportunities for artists for various upcoming events in Indianapolis.
1. Visual: The Arts Council of Indianapolis and IndyFringe Seek Artists for 2010 IndyFringe
The Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival (IndyFringe) brings its eclectic mix of local art and theatre to Mass Ave. throughout the month of August.
In keeping with IndyFringe's mission to support independent artists, the 2010 Open Call for Artists will draw on local artists to create the look and feel of the 2010 festival. An artist fee of $1,500 will go to the artist whose work will be featured on the front cover of 40,000 festival programs, buttons, posters, postcards, fliers, web site and an exciting new public art opportunity.
In 2010, IndyFringe will once again partner with the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the Be Indypendent movement. Be Indypendent encourages Indianapolis residents to support local art; www.beindypendent.org.
New to 2010, the Arts Council of Indianapolis will feature the winning artwork on the 26 foot lightbox installation at the historic Survive Alive Fire Station on Massachusetts Avenue, home to IndyFringe. This installation piece will be a part of the Picture Windows program that adds life to vacant properties and building facades. The artwork will remain up for twelve months.
All artists are required to participate in the Arts Council's on-line artist database at www.indyarts.org. The database is designed to help promote the professional artists of greater Indianapolis and is free for artists to join.
The identity package is based on artistic freedom for all artists; all visual art forms and artistic styles are welcome. IndyFringe is interested in all mediums including but not limited to painting, drawing, mixed media, new media, printmaking, photography and more. The identity package provides an opportunity for all, especially emerging artists.
Applications will be accepted until May 14, 2010.
Applications are available at www.indyfringe.org.
