York Theatre Company has cast its two new musicals, Rogues to Riches and Scandalous Behavior, as part of its Developmental Reading Series. Readings will be held at Saint Peter's Church on Thursday, June 3pm at 3 and 7pm for Rogues to Riches and Friday, June 4 at 3pm for Scandalous Behavior. Two pairs of disaffected brothers are at the heart of As You Like It, inspiring director Ellen Geer to reset William Shakespeare's witty adventure in the divided South of the post-Civil War era. Rosalind and Orlando's celebrated courtship is played out against a backdrop of political rivalry, banishment and exile, opening The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum's 2008 Summer Season on Sunday, June 1. Performances continue every Sunday afternoon at 3 pm through September 28 in the Theatricum's 299-seat outdoor amphitheater carved into the Topanga Canyon hillside.

Roger Rees Appointed Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director

A year-long search has led to the appointment of Roger Rees as the new Artistic Director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival (WTF). Ira Lapidus, President of the Festival's Board of Trustees made the announcement. Rees, who will assume his post January 1, 2005, replaces Michael Ritchie, who is leaving the Festival to become Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles.
